The Baronnies, what a place! We wanted to go for New Year’s eve, to kick off 2017 with a little trip. They were fully booked but we were able to get a cabin for a couple of days starting January 1st. What a great idea that was!
Terre des Baronnies. is located in the Parc Naturel des Baronnies Provençales. Owned and managed by a lovely, passionate and very welcoming couple, this guest house is actually way more than that: besides the actual 8-people house you can rent, the little cabins are the main “attraction”. They are all isolated from one another and located a couple minutes from the house by foot, in the woods. The perfect getaway to find yourself on your own and enjoy the tranquility of nature!
We rented La Cabane Persée., a triple decker wood house (the cabin in itself, a terrace and a sun deck). It is in the middle of the pine forest and offers a great view on the canopy. Although you might want to dress yourself with warm clothes if you want to enjoy said view in the winter!
Breakfast basket on the porch…
Those were three perfect days, which we spent reading, playing pétanque (provided by the hosts), and relaxing in a Scandinavian bath at night: 30 euro for 45mn, water at 38°C while it’s freezing outside, a bottle of Champagne and a bit of star gazing… Trust me, just do it.
This place is just one of a kind, and I absolutely recommend going.
Also, if you’re looking to stay active during your vacation in the Baronnies, the hosts Aline and Bruno can give you plenty of tips for hikes and other activities in the area. They pointed us towards a short hike (30-45 minutes round trip) that led us to the edge of a cliff (Rocher du Caire) where we were able to watch vultures let themselves be carried by warm air drafts. A perfect, peaceful ending for a very relaxed getaway!
